Workshop on FDI Flows to OIC Member States Held in Ankara, Turkey

Workshop on “Increasing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Flows to OIC Member Countries” was concluded on October 1st, in Ankara, Turkey. SESRIC together with IDB and COMCEC Coordination Office (CCO) organized this workshop on 30 September-1 October 2013. The workshop brought together prominent representatives of national investment promotion agencies of OIC member countries, academicians and relevant OIC and other international institutions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The focus of this workshop was discussing and exchanging views on the major and common challenges and obstacles facing the OIC countries in attracting more FDI flows. The workshop aimed at sharing knowledge and expertise in order to come up with concrete recommendations and project proposals for increasing FDI flows into OIC member countries as well as to identify specific areas for cooperation in this important area.

Islamic Chamber Research and Information Center also participated in this workshop. Dr. Mehdi Fakheri, Director General of ICRIC, delivered a speech on Intra-OIC FDI flows, statistics, challenges, and future opportunities. Furthermore, Dr. Fakheri proposed a set of recommendations so as to benefit from OIC member states capacity and capability.
