A glance at the establishment and development of various national and international awards divulges the fact that their non-profitable and non-governmental essence accompanied by the diligent intention of organizations to be a part of such programs contributes to sustainable improvement and promises a thriving future.

Organizing the MEC Business Excellence Award, Islamic Chamber Research and Information Center (ICRIC) approach was to make most of existent potentials among “Outstanding Organizations” in terms of Business Excellence from the OIC member states and introduce these “better practice” to each other and provide new business opportunities for them in summer 2007, Kish Island, Iran. Following the approval of the governance board, 2nd round of MEC Award was held alongside the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) General Assembly in April 2012, Istanbul, Turkey and the 3rd round will be held in October 2014 in Tehran, Iran.

Economy is believed to be a wing for cultural bonds development among the nations.  It propels the establishment of effective ties between the countries and this signifies the importance of following the similar codes and procedures to play on a common ground and speaking the same language.

From the very beginning, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has continuously taken this incentive into conations among Member States in line with providing the possibility of stable and multi-lateral development. Therefore, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) has been established as the economic wing of the OIC since 1977.

The Islamic Chamber from the very beginning of its establishment has concentrated on strengthening closer collaboration among OIC countries in fields of trade, insurance, shipping, banking and promotion of joint ventures in the member states.

MEC Award is a project to address these goals by providing expertise in terms of BE in a professional fashion to enable the businesses in the member states keep up with the international standards and project a better image of these businesses. Click here to go to FAQ.
